Directions to The Gordon League Rugby Football Club, Hempsted lane, Hempsted, Gloucester
From the North:
From the North Gloucester is best reached via the M5 motorway. Exit at junction 11 and head for Gloucester City centre. At the first roundabout you come to take the third major exit towards Ross (be careful, there is an entrance to Government buildings immediately to your left – do not take this).
(b) At the end of this dual-carriageway is a roundabout, turn left and keep going until you reach another roundabout. Turn right here (3rd exit left). Stay on this road for approximately a quarter mile and at the next roundabout (you will see TESCO’s to your right) carry straight on and under the railway bridge. The road bears left and then splits three ways – take the middle route (straight on) and keep to the right-hand lane. The road runs alongside the river for about 300 yards and then turns sharp left. On this bend is a right turn which crosses over the lock gates that link the river with the Dockland area. Follow this road (the Docks are on your left) until you reach a ‘T’ junction. Turn right and head up the road until you reach yet another roundabout. Carry straight on up the hill and the Gordon League is a little further on to your left.
From the South (West):
Approach Gloucester along the M5 and leave the motorway at junction 12. Follow the signs for Gloucester. As you approach the outskirts of the city you will encounter a large traffic light complex. Head for the city centre along the A430 which runs parallel with the Gloucester canal.
Cars only:about a mile along this road (opposite ‘Travis Perkins’ Builders’s Merchants) there is a turning left which crosses the canal and heads into Hempsted village. Follow this road up the hill and around a series of sharp bends. You will start to go downhill and the Gordon League ground is on your right.
Coaches:Continue along the A430 towards the city centre. You will eventually come to a traffic lights configuration with a Retail Park on your left (by Burger King). Head straight on for about 300 yards where you will come to a set of lights on a crossroads. Take the left hand turn down Llanthony Road. Continue down this road and over the docks bridge. Stay on this road for approximately 3/4 of a mile until you come to a roundabout. Carry straight on up the hill and the Gordon League is a little further on to your left.
From the East:
Leave the M4 motorway at junction 15 and head for Cirencester/Gloucester along the A419/A417. This road is dual carriage-way most of the way and should be followed along it’s full length. The dual-carriageway ends at a small roundabout and is reduced to two-way traffic, eventually running downhill to a roundabout located next to a pub called ‘The Air Balloon’. Turn left there and head down the steep hill towards Gloucester. This road opens back out into dual-carriageway which should be followed until it reaches a junction with another by-pass (do not take the M5 motorway turn-off). Follow signs for Gloucester and continue until you reach a large roundabout with several large office buildings surrounding it. Take the third exit to your left (towards Longlevens/Ross). At the end of this road is another large roundabout. From here take the second exit towards Ross. Continue as per (b) in ‘From the North’.
